Missions Matter Transcript

Missionary: This Song is called “Things that Matter.” It makes me wonder, what does matter? Let’s go on an adventure and find out.

Missionary: Here we are at a great divide. I wonder, why am I here? How can I make it across?

Missionary: There must be a way. Perhaps I will look for answers and come back later.

Missionary: As I am traveling, I remember a holy moment not long ago: Praising my Savior, Jesus, with all of my friends.

Missionary: I remember the Gospel. Christ is the bridge to God. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Missionary: So, that is what matters! Jesus, the Second Person of God, matters! And the souls of people matter!

Missionary: I must tell everyone of Jesus!

Missionary: We made it to the pyramids of Egypt, a country full of Muslims! Let’s see if we can find someone to talk to.

Egyptian: Hello tourist, aren’t these pyramids wonderful?

Missionary: They are! The culture here is so fascinating. I would love to learn more about it. Perhaps you could teach me the native language?

Egyptian: I will teach you the basics, but I must ask, why do you want to learn?

Missionary: I like this place. I think I might stay for some time.

Egyptian: Very well. Come with me.

Egyptian: This is the Nile River. My home is nearby, and the mosque is not far either. But I take it that you are not a Muslim, so you need not worry about that.

Missionary: I am a Christian, but I would be happy to hear about Islam.

Egyptian: We worship Allah as revealed in the Quran by the Prophet Muhammed, peace be upon him… Who do you worship?

Missionary: I worship God, Yahweh, who is revealed through Jesus Christ and exists in three persons: The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Egyptian: So you are a polytheist. There is only one God.

Missionary: No, we believe in one God. He is one being that exists in three persons simultaneously. It is simply beyond our understanding, yet that is what we confess. He is not like us… However, God the Son came down from heaven to take on human flesh, live the perfect life, and die the death we deserve. Three days later, He rose from the dead. Through Jesus’ work we have a right relationship with God, and we get to worship Him forever.

Egyptian: Very interesting. We will have to discuss more later. I have to go. Let me know if you need anything.

Missionary: Goodbye, thank you for your time.

Egyptian: Goodbye, my new friend.

Missionary: It has been a few months since I first met my friend. We have met many times since and he seems open to the Gospel. I pray that he accepts Jesus as his Savior. Let’s go see him.

Missionary: Hi, my friend! I hope you are well.

Egyptian: Hello! I am well.

Missionary: I want you to imagine something.

Egyptian: What do you want me to imagine?

Missionary: Imagine a wide chasm with no way across. We are stuck on this side unless someone makes a way.

Egyptian: I understand.

Missionary: The chasm is our sin, but Jesus made a way by becoming the bridge for us. He takes our sin so we can cross into a righteous relationship with God.

Egyptian: I believe it! What must I do?

Missionary: Call on the Name of the Lord and you will be saved (Rom. 10:13). Turn away from your sin and run to Jesus. His work is enough for us.

Egyptian: I believe it! I believe it! I must go tell everyone! Thank you, my friend!

Missionary: You are welcome! Now, “go make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that [Jesus has] commanded you. And surely [He is] with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matt. 28:19-20).

THE END.
